The high powered Eagle Pass High School Boys and Girls cross country teams mentored by head coach Juan Gonzalez ventured to the Texas Coast on Saturday, October 29, 2016 to compete in the elite 2016 UIL Region IV Cross Country Meet held in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Eagle Pass Eagles varsity boys’ crew finished in the fourth place out of 24 teams in the overall team competition with a total of 187 points thus earning a berth at the upcoming UIL State Cross Country meet on Saturday, November 12m 2016 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas. This marks the 8th time in school history 1996, 1997, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, & 2016) that the highly talented Eagle Pass varsity boys have earned a berth at the UIL State Cross Country Meet.
The youthful Eagle Pass Lady Eagles varsity girls squad finished a very respectable 11th place out of 24 teams in the overall team competition with a total of 274 points but will return the services of nearly the entire team next year.
Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulates the mighty Eagles varsity boys cross country team on your outstanding achievement and wish you the very best of luck at the 2016 UIL State Cross Country Meet. The very young Lady Eagles team should be highly commended for their valiant effort put forth at the 2016 UIL Region IV Meet.
