The playoff contending C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks’ varsity girls’ softball team under the leadership of head coach J.J. Iracheta, Jr. and assistant coaches Heriberto Roiz, Corina Escontrias, Tony Martinez and Johnny Hernandez hosted the Laredo Nixon Lady Mustangs in a 7:30 PM District 29-5A softball diamond matchup at the Eagle Pass ISD Student Activity Center softball field.  The home standing Lady Mavericks ventured into the regular season home game finale currently perched in third place in the district race.

The home standing Lady Mavericks flexed their muscle from the onset of the first inning as they tallied four runs in that frame to take the early lead in this contest.  Cassandra Flores led off the frame with a walk, with one out Giselle Cerda singled, Monica Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Cassandra Flores with the first run of the game, Marychelo Flores reached on an error enabling Giselle Cerda to score on the play, Daniela Rodriguez belted and RBI double to drive in Marychelo Flores, Lorena Sanchez connected with an RBI single to drive in Monica Rodriguez.

In the bottom of the third the Lady Mavericks extended their lead with a five run production with Marychelo whacking a lead of double in that frame, Daniela Rodriguez followed with a single, Lorena Sanchez stroked an RBI single to drive in Marychelo Flores, Yazmin Martinez reached on a fielder’s choice, Lynet Gil lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Daniela Rodriguez, Cassandra Flores connected with a solid RBI single to bring home Lorena Sanchez with two outs Giselle Cerda blasted a two RBI double to drive in Yazmin Martinez and Cassandra Flores giving the Lady Mavericks a comfortable 9 to 0 lead over the Lady Mustangs.

In the meantime Lady Mavericks starting pitcher Brittany Perez was breezing along inside the circle allowing no runs scattered just two harmless hits and struck out six batters.  Her teammates rewarded Brittany’s stellar pitching effort with a huge six run output in the bottom half of the fourth inning to seal the victory over the Laredo Nixon Lady Mustangs by the final score of 15 to 0.
