Eagle Pass Sports Central is pleased to announce that C.C. Winn High multi-sport standout Raudel Gomez will officially be signing his national Letter of Intent on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the C.C. Winn High School Library to further his education and continue to play soccer at the collegiate level with the Pine Manor College Gators members of the Great South Athletic Conference an NCAA Division II program located in Boston, Massachusetts for men’s head soccer coach John Shimer.

Coach John Shimer is quite pleased to have secured the commitment from the talented Raudel Gomez an integral member of the mighty C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity boys soccer team under the tutelage of boys head soccer coach Christian Rodriguez and assistant coaches Jose Hernandez and Gabriel Hernandez.  During his athletic career at C.C. Winn High school also excelled in football where he served as the Mavericks surefooted place kicker connecting with numerous clutch field goals and extra points.

Pine Manor College head soccer coach John Shimer stated: “Over the past three years we have built and established the men’s soccer program from the inaugural season in 2014 to where we are today as a program on the rise in the New England region of NCAA Division III.

Our program here implements many philosophies and looks for players that base their life around certain values – accountability, commitment, professionalism, character, family and fun.  We’ve been able to have success because we’ve brought in the players buy into that mentality.

There is no question Raudel Gomez is one of the finest examples in this upcoming 2016 class here at Pine Manor College of someone who exudes those values.  I believe he will be the first member of his family to go to college, and he has worked extremely hard to do so.  He has dedicated himself just as much to the classroom as he has to the soccer field with an 87 Grade Point Average, which has enabled him to earn a significant academic merit scholarship at our college.

On the field Raudel is an excellent prospect as a First Team All-District selection.  A player with an incredible inner desire to be great that brings a lot of quality to the field when you watch him play.  He has speed, vision, tenacity, and great ability to create goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates and himself.  He is a player that can play any position in the front-six attacking wise, and someone we think can be an immediate impact player as a flank/wing striker in our 1-4-3-3 here at Pine Manor.

I know Raudel wants to seize the opportunity to be special because we text almost every day of the week and he tells me so.  And it’s not just that he tells me that, he follows through with what he says he will do. For example we talked about physical conditioning and what it will take for him to adapt to the college game adding some size to his frame in order to take the physical pounding at the college level.  He has already gained 10 pounds of muscle mass and will be in tremendous shape once preseason arrives in August.  That to me is the sign of a mature young adult, someone that understands actions speak louder than words, He has a vision for himself and is working every day to achieve those goals.

He keeps telling me how excited he is to come up here and join our program.  What he doesn’t know is that we are even more excited that he has chosen to pick us!”

Eagle Pass Sports Central congratulates young highly talented Raudel Gomez on your outstanding achievement of having the opportunity to further enhance both your education as well as your athletic career at the next level with the Pine Manor College Gators of the Great South Athletic Conference and we certainly wish you the very best of luck in all of your future endeavors. Once a Maverick! Always a Maverick!
