GAME 1
The opening game of the best of three series proved to be quite a pitching duel between the Calallen starting hurler K. Jones and the Lady Mavericks starting pitcher Connie Hernandez with both pitchers dominating inside the circle through four complete shutout innings until the top half of the fifth inning when the proud Lady Mavericks broke up the scoreless game with a lone run with Lorena Sanchez reaching on an error and was replace by courtesy runner Anissa Garcia, with one out Lynet Gil laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Anissa Garcia over to second, four year standout Cassandra Flores the Lady Mavericks leading hitter stepped up to the plate and blasted an RBI double to bring home Anissa Garcia with the first run off the game to give the Lady Mavericks a 1 to 0 lead over the Lady Wildcats.
Meanwhile Lady Mavs starting pitcher Connie Hernandez was pitching her heart out tossing five complete scoreless innings allowing just one harmless single until the bottom of the sixth when the Calallen Lady Wildcats took the lead with a pair of runs on a hit, a sacrifice, another hit and a very costly two out error to take a 2 to 1 lead heading to the top of the seventh where the valiant Lady Mavericks put two runners on base with two outs but the Lady Mavs last batter failed to bring in the potential game tying and go ahead runs as the Calallen Lady Wildcats escaped with the narrow 2 to 1 victory over the Lady Mavericks who battled their hearts out and truly deserved a better fate.

GAME 2
The second game of the best of three series on Saturday afternoon saw the C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks enter a little shorthanded as four of their players did not suit up having to come home for prior personal commitments. But as a wise old veteran coach once told me “You dance with who you brought”. Needless to say the proud and valiant Lady Mavericks took on the Calallen Lady Wildcats without their normal lineup.
The Lady Wildcats who were the designated visiting team for this contest took the lead with a lone run in the top of the first and extended that one run lead with a three run output in the top of the second then tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the third to take a 6 to 0 lead over the shorthanded Lady Mavericks.
In the bottom half of the third inning the C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks could only answer with what proved to be their only run of this game with Monica Rodriguez reaching on an error, Lynet Gil laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Monica Rodriguez over to second, with two outs veteran and reliable right fielder Giselle Cerda came through a an RBI double to drive in Monica Rodriguez with the final run of this series as the Lady Mavericks were eliminated in two straight.
