The high powered Eagle Pass High School Boys & Girls Varsity and Jr. Varsity Cross Country squads under the direction of head cross country coach Juan Gonzalez journeyed to the Woodlands, Texas on Saturday, October 1, 2016 to participate the Annual Nike South Invitational Cross Country Meets which just happens to be one of the truly highly competitive meets not only in the State of Texas but in the entire Nation as well as only the premier high 6 school cross country teams are invited to this classic meet.

The talented Eagle Pass Eagles varsity boys made a very respectful showing finishing fourth in the overall team competition with a total of 109 points.  The Eagles varsity boys competed in the Elite Division against a total of 15 of the best high school teams in the State. The varsity boys were spearheaded by Nathan Kowalski who crossed the finish line in 10th place individually with a time of 16:11. The equally talented and youthful Lady Eagles varsity girls finished a magnificent third place overall in the overall team competition with a total of 111 points.  The Lady Eagles also competed in the Elite Division against 13 of the premier high school cross country teams in the State.  Leading the way for the Lady Eagles was Monica Rivera who came in 6th individually with a time of 19:20.

 

The Eagle Pass junior varsity boys competed in the Varsity Green Division where they finished in an outstanding second place in the overall team competition with a total of 65 points. Leading the up and coming Eagles JV crew was Mauricio Lopez who came in 10th individually with a time of 17:31. Junior Varsity girls Roxana Escareno and Briana Estrada competed in the Varsity Green Division and faired very well.
