Offensively the Cowboys will be led by their starting quarterback Jordan Ortega #10 who has tremendous athletic ability to run or throw. He is a very accurate passer, and dangerous in the open field when he carries the ball. Joining him in the backfield will be running back Jonathan Handy who will hit the hole hard and very explosive. The Cowboys receiving corps will feature Joseph Casares #1 their second most targeted receiver, Eric Leija # 88 their tallest receiver and biggest deep threat, Gerard Orosco #3 will also lineup as a Slot and a tight end and Isaiah Gonzalez #26 who is their primary receiver very short but very quick. The Cowboys offensive line is comprised by Mark Puente #64 at left tackle, Jesse Rebolloso #67 at left guard, Mike Herrera #56 at center, Xavier Hernandez #70 at right guard and Augustin Avila #60 at right tackle.
On defense the Cowboys are fundamentally sound and will feature a standout defensive lineman in Sean Salinas #78 along with two-way starter Jesse Rebolloso #67 and Rudy Anthony #30. The line backing corps will have Daniel Alcorta #42 and Chris Oviedo #82. Patrolling the secondary will be Demarques Brannon #7 and Steven Retana #9.
The visiting C.C. Winn Mavericks will of course seek to establish dominance at the line of scrimmage to get their powerful running game and passing game clicking on all cylinders. The Mavericks explosive backfield duo of quarterback Julio Ruiz (470 yards rushing) and tailback Danny Rios (395 yards rushing) look to have a big game against the Cowboys. The Mavericks passing game will play a vital role in the eventual outcome of this game, wide receivers Gilbert Rodriguez, Alfonso Cardona, slot the talented slot receiver Ruben Esquivel and the man child tight end Jose Rodriguez are more than ready to tote the air mail all the way to the promise land.
On defense the Mavericks will also seek to establish dominance in the trenches will the quick footed and strong defensive ends Jacob Guerra and Victor Olguin the pass rush pressure. The big and strong defensive tackles Carlos Tijerina and Enrique Garza applying the inside run stopping pressure. The quick pursuing and hard hitting Mavericks linebacker unit of Albert Duran and Ernesto Villasenor should get a much need and well expected return of fellow hard hitting linebacker Rolando Sanchez who has been out the past two weeks with an injury. The Mavericks swarming secondary quartet of Rey Vasquez, Alex De Jesus, Raul Gomez and Rene Auces considered to be one of the premier defensive secondary units in Region IV will be tested but look for the Mavericks secondary to force and come away with a few turnovers.
