Laredo United ISD Invitational Meet

The highly touted Eagle Pass High School Boys & Girls Cross Country teams under the direction of head coach Juan Gonzalez ventured to the Gateway City of Laredo, Texas early Saturday morning October 8, 2016 to compete in the elite 2016 Laredo United ISD Invitational Cross Country Meet where they went stride for stride against all of the Laredo schools and couple from the Winter Garden area as well.
The talent laden youthful Lady Eagles varsity squad continued their domination over their opposition once again coming away with the overall team championship with a total of 39 points outdistancing the runner-up Laredo United squad who tallied a total of 72 points. Individually the Lady Eagles came away with three individual medals spearheaded by Monica Rivera who came in second with a time of 18:49, Sasha Monsivais placed fourth with a time of 19:18 and young Shanya Luna crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 19:29.
The high powered Eagles varsity boys also came home with the overall team championship title with a total of 30 points easily outdistancing the runner-up crew from Laredo United who tallied a total of 80 points. The Eagles varsity boys earned a total of four individual medals including the top three finishers in that division. Paving the way for the champion Eagles varsity squad was Miguel Huitron who ran away with the individual title crossing the finish line first with a winning time o 15:40 followed by Nathan Kowalski who came in second with a time of 16:01, Sergio Hernandez who placed third with a time of 16:12 and Arturo Valdez who placed seventh with a time o 16:33.
